We are thrilled to support Mike’s nomination. His extensive experience and deep passion for sustainable transportation have made him a respected voice in the community.

His experience as chair of the SFMTA Citizens’ Advisory Commission has shown that he is well prepared to help Muni tackle significant challenges, and his experience riding the bus and bicycles in the city gives him a deep understanding of everyday San Franciscans’ needs from our transit system.

San Francisco has aggressive housing and climate goals and, as a result, we need leaders who will reimagine our transportation system to keep up with the City’s changing needs. Whether you’re riding Muni, riding a bike or scooter, driving a car, delivering food or packages, the City’s streets and transportation systems need to adapt to the changing nature of the way we get around.

From the press release:

“Mike is an experienced Data Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the internet industry and skilled in marketing and product analytics. Mike joined the SFMTA Citizens' Advisory Council in January 2020 and served as its Chair from July 2021 through July 2023. Mike is a frequent rider of MUNI lines 1, 38 and 49, and uses both his own e-bike and bikeshare to get around the City. An advocate for housing, transportation, and urbanist causes, Mike has been an organizer in his neighborhood and a volunteer lead for YIMBY Action, a housing advocacy organization.”

This nomination also demonstrates Mayor Breed’s commitment to fostering a sustainable and forward-thinking transportation system for all San Franciscans. Mike’s leadership on the SFMTA Board will ensure that our transportation policies reflect the values and needs of all San Franciscans.

The nomination next goes to the Board of Supervisors for approval, where a majority of Supervisors must vote to confirm the nominee.
